Trowel Applied Compounds

ZEEMAX trowel applied compounds cover a broad spectrum of applications to 1800°F… probably the broadest temperature range of any heat transfer compound. We offer two distinct types of trowel on compound: standard LT400 and high temperature HT1800.

LT400, our standard grade trowel applied compound, is a non-hardening mastic type material that is easy to use. LT400 can be used in applications to 400°F  - the most common range for industrial steam tracing.

Non-hardening LT400 has an indefinite shelf life and opened containers can be re-sealed to eliminate waste. It is very smooth textured--thanks to MicroFine graphite technology--which means it goes on quickly without air gaps and voids caused by poorly processed graphite.

LT400 is an ideal compound for sensitive pipeline temperature maintenance tracing where bare tracing may cause localized product burning or "cookout". For externally mounted flat panel steam coils, LT400 is the perfect choice. Its' non-hardening formulation means that panels can be easily removed for maintenance or replacement.

LT400 permits the natural expansion and contraction of the tracer tube and the pipe that it heats. Since LT400 does not cure to a "set", the tubing is free to expand while the compound maintains a thermal bridge to the pipe surface.

Our high temperature grade compound, HT1800, offers an unparalleled temperature range--up to 1800°F--for the most challenging environments. It is also an economical choice for general purpose use.

HT1800 is also smooth textured and easily applied. However, this compound type requires a simple curing procedure that results in the applied compound setting to a hardened state. The tracer tubing is firmly bonded to the pipe.

HT1800 has a maximum unopened shelf life of one year. When the container is opened, it is recommended that the contents be completely used.
